Peer Teaching Lessons #1

Alison, Rachel, and Samantha

This was the first peer taught lesson in our Arts Method Class, and the central idea was painting.  This group incorporated Easter since it was that time of the year, which really made their lesson fun!
We first got to trace and cut out three different Easter eggs that we would be demonstrating three different art designs: line, shape, and color.  On my egg for shapes, I chose to use more organic shapes, like stars, puffs, ovals, etc.  The middle egg represented different types of lines, like long, short, fat, straight, and curved.  The last egg was to represent color.  I chose to show different value shades of the color purple, starting dark up top and getting lighter towards the bottom but I also used some black towards the bottom to really emphasis the change.
A fun extension activity would be to have each student paint on a puzzle piece important things that represent them.  We would put all the pieces together, creating one big puzzle which would represent our classroom.  This would be a great beginning activity to show that even though there can be cultural diversity, we still make up one whole classroom and could really help the students create lasting relationships.
