Tristen and Lauren
This was an activity I really enjoyed, and remember doing in middle school! Their presentation was to focus on lines and using our imaginations. We started out working with a partner, and on an 8"x11" sheet of paper we got to draw any type of line we wanted. It did not have to be straight, or curved, it could be a combination of both! Next, we switched papers with our partner, and based off the line they drew we had to come up with a picture to draw. I drew a landscape that has water in the back as well. Also, after we drew our pictures we had to write a story that goes along with the picture we drew, which really helped us step outside the box and use our imagination.
A fun extension activity would be to have all the students in Social Studies learn about the different types of landscapes like desserts, plateau plains, mountains, etc. We could have them do the random line part first, then teach them about the different landscapes, then later come back to the line and have the students try to create one of the landscapes and then write a paragraph about things that describe that landscape and where its most likely to be found at in the world.
